Community Events Manager

Greentop Community Circus Centre is looking for a friendly, organised and community‑minded Community Events Manager to join our team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves working with people, enjoys creative environments, and wants to help bring circus and community engagement to life across Sheffield.

About the role

You’ll lead the coordination and delivery of our Community Events programme — from first enquiry to final evaluation. This includes workshops, school programmes, community celebrations and bespoke events.

You’ll work closely with our freelance circus teachers and performers, build relationships with partners, and help grow Greentop’s reach and impact.

Key details

  • Contract: 24 months (with possible extension)
  • Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible working)
  • Salary: £13,500 pro rata (FTE £27,000)
  • Location: Greentop Circus Centre / hybrid
  • Deadline: Thursday 9 July 2026, 12 noon
  • Interviews: Week commencing 13 July 2026

 Join the Greentop Board of Trustees! 

Greentop is one of the UK’s leading circus centres, using circus arts to bring people together, develop creativity, build confidence and strengthen communities. We are seeking new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of the organisation. 

As a Trustee, you will work alongside fellow Board members and the Centre Director to provide strategic oversight, support good governance and help ensure Greentop continues to thrive and deliver its charitable mission. 

What we’re Looking For 

This is an opportunity to play an active role in the future of a distinctive arts charity and help ensure that circus remains accessible, inclusive and impactful for communities across Sheffield and beyond. 

We are particularly looking for people with experience, knowledge or networks in: 

  • Charity finance and accounting 
  • The arts and cultural sector in Sheffield and/or the wider region 
  • Fundraising and income generation 
  • Employment law and HR 

Previous trustee experience is not essential. We welcome applications from people who can bring relevant professional expertise, lived experience, fresh perspectives and a commitment to our values and charitable aims. More information about being a charity trustee can be found here: https://beingacharitytrustee.campaign.gov.uk/   

We are seeking people who: 

  • Are enthusiastic about the role of arts, circus and creativity in communities 
  • Can think strategically and contribute to Board discussions 
  • Are willing to act in the best interests of the charity

  • Are committed to good governance, risk management and collaborative decision-making 

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are particularly keen to hear from individuals whose experiences and perspectives are currently underrepresented in charity governance and the cultural sector. 

Time Commitment 

  • Four Board meetings each year 
  • Annual General Meeting (AGM) 
  • Annual Board away day 
  • Optional involvement in sub-committees or working groups 

Board meetings are held in person at Greentop in Sheffield and/ or online 

Term of Appointment 

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term and may be reappointed. This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed on request.

Volunteering

As a charity, Greentop loves volunteers. You can volunteer in rigging equipment, sound engineering, lighting, event organising, working with children, work in the community, running a charity, marketing, admin and more.
