Circus AP
In partnership with Endeavour, a Sheffield‑based organisation specialising in youth development, Greentop offers the UK’s first Circus Alternative Education Provision for young people at KS2 and 3.
Together, we provide young people with a safe, nurturing and playful environment where they can reconnect with learning, build confidence and discover what they’re capable of through circus arts.

About Circus AP
A playful, movement‑based programme where learners build essential skills like teamwork, communication and staying positive in a supportive, fun environment. Through the creative challenges of circus arts, they practise persistence, learn to adapt when things don’t go to plan, and build trust through shared successes.
The programme blends Endeavour’s relationship‑centred support with Greentop’s specialist circus teaching, creating a space where young people can explore new skills, express themselves and experience success in small, meaningful steps.
We can establish a Circus AP group with you and also offer Circus as part of Endeavours wider programme of Alternative education provision. More details on Endeavour’s website.

Who is Circus AP for:
The partnership between Greentop and Endeavour recognises that some young people need something different in order to thrive. Many face overwhelming challenges and barriers to accessing education – often through no fault of their own. Their mental health can suffer, and they risk falling behind not only academically, but socially and emotionally too. Circus AP exists to change that. Through a blend of education, creativity and adventure, we offer young people the chance to rebuild, reconnect and re‑engage with learning.
Learners begin with small, achievable steps, building confidence, strength and resilience as they progress. Circus gives them space to connect, support each other and form friendships, especially for those who struggle socially in other settings. With patient guidance, adapted equipment and a playful environment, every young person can succeed, grow and belong.

The Benefits of Circus AP
Circus AP offers far more than circus skills. The programme creates a playful, collaborative environment where young people can grow at their own pace and rediscover what they can do.
What learners will gain:
Self-confidence through achievement Small, supported steps lead to visible progress — turning “I can’t” into “look what I can do”.
Improved social skills Circus naturally encourages teamwork, communication and peer support, helping learners form and repair friendships.
Physical development Strength, coordination and body awareness grow through regular movement and practice.
Resilience and motivation Learners experience success through persistence, building a mindset that transfers beyond the circus space.
A sense of belonging The supportive environment helps young people feel safe, valued and part of a community.
Circus gives these young people a place to belong — and that changes everything!

What Circus AP Involves - A Typical Day:
Each Circus AP day begins gently. Learners share food, check in about their week and settle into a calm, supportive environment where they feel heard and welcomed. Establishing a safe space for our learners is really important.
From there, young people are encouraged to choose activities that spark their curiosity — an approach that helps them take ownership of their learning and feel comfortable trying new things.
By lunchtime, the group arrives at Greentop’s dedicated circus space, where they explore a wide range of skills:
Aerial arts – silks, trapeze, rope, aerial hoop
Manipulation skills – juggling, diabolo, plate spinning, flower sticks, poi
Balance and coordination – tightwire, unicycling, stilt‑walking
Strength and movement – warm‑ups, conditioning and progressive skill‑building
Activities are always adapted to the individual. E.g. Learners start small — low stilts, simple juggling patterns, basic aerial holds — supported by spotting, safety equipment and patient, experienced instructors. As they grow stronger and more confident, they naturally take on bigger challenges.
A Community‑Minded Partnership
Circus AP reflects Greentop Circus’s commitment to using creativity for social good. Working alongside Endeavour, we provide young people with a pathway to reconnect with themselves, with others and with learning – through movement, play and shared achievement.
We to show people what we do. Schools, referrers and partners are always invited to visit both Greentop and Endeavour to see Circus AP in action.
