Guidelines for Artists for Completing the On-line Agency Registration Form - Please note: Greentop Circus Employs UK based artists who have a legal right to work in the UK
- Register each act, character or show etc as individual entries e.g. if you do a fire show, that should be separate to your walkabout stilt act.
- This is your opportunity to ‘sell’ yourself to potential customers.
- Look at this from the customer’s point of view.
- If words aren’t your thing, get someone else to write this for you.
- If we have to edit your description it will delay your inclusion so take your time and get it right, there’s no rush.
- Be appropriate, don’t swear or be too lewd. We are pretty broad-minded but we will reject anything that we consider inappropriate.
- There may be other artists with similar acts to yours so you must stand out.
- The customer will decide who they want to hire within a few seconds of seeing the selection so you have to jump off the screen at them and then keep their attention. You have two ways to do this; first with your image and second with your description.
- Choose a great image for your act. The customer decides who they want initially based on the image so make sure it’s a good one.
- The image needs to work well as a small thumbnail (120x120pixels) and as a bigger image (400x400).
- Your description should be a paragraph between 200 and 1000 characters long.
- Do provide a well written description with no mistakes, no typos or misspellings.
- Consider the following:
- Repeat your act name and say what it is and what you do
- If you act is character based, write it as if your character is saying it.
- If your act is skill based, wow your audience and impress them with your skills
- They are booking YOU so let your personality shine out
- Be funny but not corny
- Don’t make wild claims about being the best if you’re not! But equally do not shy away from claiming just how great you are!
- What are you like to work with? The personal touch is always good.
- What experience or history do you have? How many years? What types of job (cruise ships, big tops, corporate job, parties, shows etc)
- Who have you worked for previously – don’t be too proud to name drop!
- Do you have an ethos or business ethic?
- Finally, get someone to proof read what you’ve written.
- Additional Information – We need this in order to employ you legally and because our customers ask for it. It is generally good practice to have this anyway as it shows you are professional and responsible.
- Public Liability Insurance details – Insurer, level of cover, exp. date, copy or scan of policy certificate, appropriate cover for your activity eg if you do a fire act, your insurance should specify this activity.
- 2 x Professional References OR Equity Membership (preferred)
- NI Number and Tax reference number – you are responsible for paying your own tax and NI contributions
- If working with children in any capacity you must have a current (within 12 months) CRB check (or equivalent for foreign nationals).
- Date of Birth - Greentop will only employ people over the age of 18 years.
- Written risk assessments for your activities on request.
- Contact Phone Number in Emergency
