Greentop Circus lights up the Winter Gardens

As part of the region-wide Illuminate festival, Sheffield Council put on Lightnight - a festival that sheds light on learning, the arts and culture, siming to bring people into the city centre and to use the cultural facilities available. The library, theatres, media and other centres stayed open late especially for the evening.

The Winter Gardens saw the most dramatic transformation as Greentop Circus took over for the night! The space was transformed into an atmospheric rain forest, populated by strange creatures on stilts, acrobats, trapeze arists and other circus creatures as they wowed the audience with two 30 minutes shows. Greentop Circus had commissioned Leeds performance company Urban Angels to adapt a show they had been touring recently to fit with the theme of the event.

Sheffield based company TDC was brought in to provide all the lights and sound.

Both shows played to capacity audiences and the feed back was very positive. A resounding success for Greentop and all its artistes!
