Greentop Circus has received a grant from the Arts Council for strategic development. This funding will enable the organisation to grow and develop into a sustainable centre for circus in Yorkshire.
They have great and exciting plans for circus arts in Yorkshire that will have a positive impact on lots of people's lives and are looking forward to working with the Arts Council to realise their vision.
The new funding will help pay for key staff who will facilitate the organisation to grow and develop over the next three years. Notably, Greentop will be getting a Chief Executive. This is a new post and by employing such a senior manager the organisation is clearly showing it is serious about its future.
Greentop has already achieved much over the last few years. It runs the Sheffield Youth Circus, provides the only permanent professional circus centre in the region, has an entertainment agency, provides corporate team building and delivers a community outreach programme that touches the lives of many children and young people.
Now it has got this funding, the potential for development is significant. "We are very pleased that we have got this money and excited by what it means for the organisation. It is encouraging because it shows we are doing something right! We believe what we do is important both for the artform and for the people we work with." said James Harkness, Greentop Event Manager.
