Circelation comes to Greentop

Greentop Circus is proud to announce that Circelation is coming to Sheffield on 16 - 20th April. Circelation is a professional development programme for circus artists/performers and directors looking to develop and improve their skills and knowledge in the creation of new and innovative collaborative work.

The 4 day performance laboritory is called Pushing boundaries: building content into circus and will be led by Hilary Westlake who was the co-founder of Lumiere & Son Theatre Company, ran Circus Lumiere and was commissioned to create the Parade of Fifty Years for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, among numerous other works.

This laboratory will explore ways in which circus artists from all disciplines can develop content rich and physically strong and enjoyable work.

‘There have been some really great developments from circus artists using their skills in the service of a narrative or conceptual framework. I think they've also benefited from the opportunity to adapt and develop their own vocabulary. It seems to me that when form and content are equally strong, the results are always more satisfying for the audience.’

Hilary Westlake

"This is a great honour to host Circelation 2008, we are looking forward to seeing what creative ideas and new projects develop from the labs, as we are sure they will. This is exciting for Greentop because we have worked hard to raise the profile of the organisation as a professional circus centre and we feel that this is recognition of all our hard work"
