The Greentop Cabaret on Tour!
Greentop took its Circus Cabaret on the road last month when it performed at the Deershed festival in North Yorkshire. The festival is rapidly getting a reputation as one of the best family festivals in the country.
Greentop took over the big top tent as the main attraction on Friday night and then provided circus workshops and walkabout entertainment next day. We entertained an audience of several hundred moms, dads and kids with a selection of the best acts from our regular Sheffield shows, keeping the same interactive cabaret format, only bigger! The show was hosted by our Russian Cosmonaut Comrade - Ivana Blastoff, who kept everyone in check, and the acts included aerialist Cleomatra, Duncan and Nikki with their love-themed acrobalance act, Ebb and Flo and their crazy juggling shenanigans and the soon-to-be-world-famous Vid Warren, beat boxer extraordinaire!
The show was a great success and the audience loved what we did, many of them had not seen a show like it before and asked about our Sheffield events and circus training. Next day we provided circus workshops in juggling, hula-hoops, beat-boxing and lots of other fun circus skills and we were swamped with kids wanting to learn how to do them. We were heartened that there was so much interest from the kids to learn circus skills and we saw some really talented young people. As well as the workshops our acts provided crazy walkabout acts that kept everyone slightly bemused but always entertained!
For us it was a success in terms of the new friends we made in the festival organisers and their dedicated team, the artistic content of our entertainment, the new audiences we entertained and engaged, the opportunity to promote Greentop and for the income it generated for the charity. We hope to be there next year so watch this space!
