Beginners' Trapeze


Saturday 13th Sept, or Sunday 14th Sept, 10am – 4pm
£40, £30 (members)
Tutors: Josephine Smith and Peter Murphy

Spend an intensive day learning static trapeze. Work on conditioning, rope climbing, moves above and below the bar. The perfect introduction to static trapeze for complete beginners, and a useful intensive day for those who have just started. There will be two identical workshops held back to back on this weekend. Book on to either, or book both to really move your technique forward!


Swinging Saturday


Saturday 20th Sept, 10am – 6pm
Also Sunday 30th Nov, 10am – 6pm

Tutor: Jon Cotton

A great chance to improve your swinging skills, or to experience the exhilaration of swinging trapeze. You will have two 30 minute sessions during the day, and will be on a lunge throughout. Sessions are led by Jon Cotton. Some previous aerial experience necessary.


Acrobatics and Acrobalance


Saturday & Sunday 27th & 28th Sept, 10am – 4pm
£80, £60 (members)
Tutor: Marcello de Ramos

An intensive weekend of acrobatics led by accomplished performer and tutor Marcello de Ramos. It will cover tumbling (cartwheels and round offs to somersaults and twists), mini-tramp and acrobalance (basic preparatory balancing, handstand balancing (Hand to hand), baskets, and lifting work). Suitable for all standards including beginners. Skills taught will depend on the level of the participants.
Marcello is an acrobatic performer and teacher and a specialist stuntman. He is a fully qualified coach with British Gymnastics & the Brazilian National Circus with over 20 years' experience.


Directing the Play


Monday 29th Sept to Friday 3rd Oct, 10am – 5pm

Tutor: Fraser Hooper

A 5 day course with Fraser Hooper
What makes a great clown? How do you create a show, hold an audience and get them to stay? Starting with rhythm and play, participants will quickly discover the joys of seriously clowning around in a practical workshop that shows you how to build material into comic routines.
Topics covered will include working the audience, developing style, directing and object theatre. Clowns on film will provide an additional feature to the class plus there will be an opportunity to show work to an invited audience.


Corde Lisse Masterclass

Mikael Finkel is a world class performer. He is making a rare visit to these shores to run a two day masterclass. If you're serious about Corde Lisse then this is an opportunity not to be missed. Previous Corde Lisse experience necessary.

Mike Wright is an experienced, internationally acclaimed aerial performer, teacher, producer and choreographer. Learn at your own level with one of the best teachers in the UK today. Previous aerial experience necessary, but swinging novices welcome.


Burlesque


Saturday & Sunday 18th & 19th October, 10am – 4pm
£60, £40 (members)
Tutor: Lara Hells Belle

Learn and perform burleque and cabaret style dance routines ranging from Striptease and Moulin Rouge / Can Can to stage and show styles, plus lap / chair dance. There's a lot more to burlesque than people think, so be prepared for a wide variety of fabulously choreographed dances and routines. It's not all about stripping down and jiggling about! Lara is a performer and choreographer, and qualified dance and fitness teacher.


Creating an Act


Saturday & Sunday 25th & 26th Oct, 10am – 5pm

Tutor: Phil Coggins

A two day workshop exploring storytelling, storymaking, narrative and all the other bits that make for a more satisfying routine. The first day focusses on techniques, which will be applied to your work on the second day. Ideal for anybody interested in developing a new direction for generating work. Phil Coggins is a theatre maker. He is Joint Artistic Director of the Babbing Vagabonds Storytelling Theatre company. He has worked worldwide devising theatre and spends most of his time working in the Peak district devising shows for non-traditional performance spaces.


Static Trapeze 1: Drops, Balances, Spins and Beats


Saturday 1st Nov, 10am – 4pm

Tutors: Kate Stott and Peter Murphy

This is ideal if you are already familiar with many of the basic static trapeze moves. We aim to expand your skill set by introducing you to a variety of drops and balances. You'll also get an opportunity to explore the dynamics of beating and spinning under the bar.


Static Trapeze 2: Pulling it all together


Sunday 2nd Nov, 10am – 4pm

Tutors: Kate Stott and Peter Murphy

This is aimed at those trapeze enthusiast who would like to take the first steps towaqrds putting together a routine or part of a routine. We'll focus on transitions, mood and flow. We'll take a look at the importance of beginnings and endings. Please bring along any music (CDs) that you'd like to work with during the day.

Climbs, Locks, Hangs, Balances and Drops: Corde Lisse & Silks

Tutor: Claire Crook

An opportunity to expand your aerial repertoire and learn a new way of moving in the air on these diverse and challenging pieces of equipment. Good technique, transitions, sequences, conditioning and progression will be covered. Some aerial experience and fitness required. Claire Crook is an experienced aerial performer and teacher specialising in Corde Lisse.
