Who we are

Greentop Circus is a registered charity (reg: 1054722) and a registered company (reg: 3185290). We are a social enterprise so that all the income we receive goes back into the organisation.

We are partially funded by the Arts Council of England, with whom we are a Regularly Funded Organisation (RFO), we also get funding from BBC Children in Need who have enabled us to run our Youth Circus for nearly ten years now.

Special mention goes to SCEDU who have provided us with funding to develop this new website, we hope you agree that is is money well spent!

The remainder of our funding comes primarilly from commercial income from our entertainment agency, team building training, circus workshops, evening classes, weekend workshops, dontations, membership fees and hire of our building.

Greentop has an organised structure which has helped to sustain its development over the years. From humble beginnings as a community circus project, we have grown to become one of the biggest Social Enterprises in Sheffield. We remain connected to the communities in which we work, delivering many workshops in schools and community centre in deprived areas throughout the year - a programme of work we are fully committed to.

The Greentop Centre is the only circus centre in the region and as such we are providing a valuable resource for everyone interested in circus. We have the only custom-fitted trapeze rig in Yorkshire and are able to provide a wide range of professional equipment for people to use.

Greentop has a Board of Trustees who are responsible for high-level decision making, they are all voluteers and donate their time for free. They come from diverse backgrounds and all bring a wealth of experience that helps Greentop grow and prosper.

There is an Operations Team who are responsible for a wide range of volunteer activities, cabarets, technical, maintenance, and lots of other stuff. They always need more volunteers to take on some of the responsibility, if Members want to join the team call the office on 0114 244 8828.

There are also more volunteering opportunities when we put on shows and caberets, such as stage management, ushers, helpers for the bar, stage dressing, promotions and flyering, technical support and sound and light and more besides.
